I haven't posted to my blog in a while, mostly because I took a job as head Science Gal at a small school district in Anthony. My background (and last blog) was elementary science and I found myself in charge of an entire Science program K-12. It was a big leap and let me tell you, a bumpy journey. In these 5 years I have tackled a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Science, I have become quite acquainted with the STAAR exam and I now have additional duties of ELAR K-12 (English Language Arts and Reading) instructional coach. That kind of stuff happens at little school districts. We wear many hats, but in turn learn many things about education. Its hectic but I love my job and its been quite a journey. I tried to start another blog on Epsilen, but it was a disaster (spammed constantly and hard to get rolling.) So after reading my old entries on my old blog and realizing that that blog was a good thing, I've decided to put gas in the tank, break out the key and start it up again. If you are an old reader, welcome back. If you are a new blog reader, I hope this blog will benefit you, if not for the information, maybe for the sheer knowledge that you are not alone, that being a science teacher is a rewarding but challenging role, and that sharing information, experiences and common plight makes us better at what we do.
I will be reposting my old blog entries from Blogger onto this new one as I think that the information from the entries might help teachers, but as I review these old entries I find that I have changed and have grown quite a bit as a Science teacher. The old entries bring back flashbacks to a very hectic time when I was a Science lab teacher at a pretty large school. Amazingly enough, between prep, teaching and raising a family, I still had time to write a blog entry once a week. For those of you who are reading who read my old blog, welcome back. To those of you who are new, I hope that you find this blog useful. I hope that you will respond or comment to my entries if you have something to share or something to say. Many times teachers would read my blog and would write to me directly because they did not want to post their feelings publicly, and that is okay with me too. You can reach me through my email: [email protected]. I try to use my blog as a clearing house for science teaching ideas, so I want you to know that I try very hard not to take credit for other people's ideas. I always give credit to any teacher who wants to share. I can't pay you for your ideas, but I can certainly tell people about how wonderful and creative you are, and that is for all to read out here in internet land.
Here's to El Paso Area Science! Yeeee Hawwww!
