TecH2O : Teachers and youth leaders, sign-up now for a place that youth groups grades 5th and up will learn about how water is connected to everything we do in the Chihuahuan Desert through interactive exhibits. Learn what water resources are available in the region and how we all can help to protect it. Tours and exhibits can be aligned to Earth Science, Life Science and Chemistry standards.
Hours of Operation Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (by appointment only) Saturday: 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (open to the public) Gene Roddenberry Planetarium: Established in 1969 as a gift from the Junior League of El Paso, the planetarium is one of the gems of EPISD. The Gene Roddenberry Planetarium hosts shows for schools and the general public. Show content is based on the state standards for 5th and 8th grade. A nominal facilities fee is charged to schools outside of EPISD for groups of up to 120. Hours of Operation are specific to the groups scheduled to visit the planetarium. Summer and Night shows are scheduled for the general public. Admission is free but tickets are available on a first come first serve basis the day of the show. El Paso Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens: Established in 1936 and the Gardens were dedicated in 1999. The Museum’s permanent exhibits focus on the natural and cultural history of the Chihuahuan Desert region. Admission is Free. Field Trips can be aligned to Earth Science and Life Science Standards.
Hours of Operation: Open, Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 4:30 pm Keystone Natural Heritage Park: Keystone Heritage Park is an achaeological site, an archaic wetlands and a botanical garden. This is a 52 acre park located in El Paso's Upper Valley. The wetlands at this park are home to many species of birds and is a stop on a migratory route for even more. Over 193 species of birds have been spotted there, including 22 species considered rare by the Audubon Society. Field trips can be aligned to Earth and Life Science standards
Hours of Operation: Saturday and Sunday 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Desert Botanical Gardens and wetlands are a natural learning enviroment for students of all ages. Call to request a field trip for your school, for you church, civic or private group call 915-584-0563 El Paso Zoo: The El Paso Zoo is a zoo located in El Paso, Texas. The 35-acre (14 ha) facility houses animals representing over 220 species, including such critically endangered species as the Amur leopard and the Aruba rattlesnake. The zoo is home to a sea lion exhibit, which hosts daily shows, as well as exotic animals from around the world with feature attractions such as the African Star train and the Hunt Family Desert Spring. The Zoo recently expanded in size with the addition on the new African Exhibit featuring lions, zebras, and giraffes. Field Trip and Group admissions must be reserved in advance.
