Science Teachers shouldn't feel like they are on an island...
It doesn't matter if you are an experienced Science teacher of 25 years or a novice teacher of 2 or 3, Science knowledge is growing exponentially and one person alone cannot keep up with all of the changes so that it can get back to your kids in the classroom. Whether its best practice, content information, process skills or local science resources, this website is a place where teachers can share ideas, look for what's new, or find local resources for career and college readiness. We aren't going to tell you how to teach, we are just going to share what might work for you because it worked for us.
El Paso Area Science Teachers K-12 website is created by Techscichick, a.k.a., Lora Holt, a somewhat free spirited local El Paso Area Science teacher and Instructional Specialist for Science K-12 for the Anthony Independent School District. Her philosophy is that El Paso is rich with information about Science that teachers can use inside the classroom. What better place to cultivate El Paso Science education ideas than a Science Education Website? With the help of local colleagues, area organizations and the Science Teachers Association of Texas Region 19, she will do the best she can to provide our local Science Teachers with the tools that they need to teach El Paso Science and its all free! In fact if you have any ideas to share, time saving strategies, or science lessons that you would like to brag about, drop me (I mean, her) a line and she'll be happy to post them up to share with our local teachers. You wont get paid for your idea, but you will help hundreds of science teachers and thousands of kids become scientifically literate, and that's a wonderful thing! You can reach her on her blog or at [email protected]
Most sincerely, love, peace and Science,
Techscichick
